Coalville Market - Take a fresh look Take a fresh look at Coalville Market. That's what market traders and Council Officials are telling both the general public and potential new market traders. Coalville Market is a wonderful source of fresh produce including a butchers and greengrocers as well as fresh and pressed flowers, watches, jewelry, clothing, tools and hardware, cosmetics, underwear and hosiery and phone accessories, but there is room for more traders.
To support the growth of the market new traders can 'Buy One Get One Free'! New Traders who agree to trade on the market for a 6-month period will pay full rent for the first month and get the second month's rent absolutely free, making a total weekly charge for this first 2 months of only £25.00 per week (based on trading 3 days a week); Perfect for anyone wishing to establish their own business.
And despite the fact that the private operator contracted to provide the Sunday Boot Market and Thursday Collectables Market has unfortunately had to cease due to their costs, North West Leicestershire District Council will be continuing with the markets for the foreseeable future. One additional bonus of the Council operating the Sunday Boot is that the 50p per person entrance charge has been abolished, meaning that entrance is now free.
Councilor Gordon Tacey, Deputy Leader of the Council said. "The Council are keen to see Coalville Market improve, both in terms of the numbers of customers as well as the number and range of goods on offer. The work being undertaken by the Markets Section together with the traders through their Markets Committee will hopefully see this increase in traders and customers realized; helping both the Market and they town centre as a whole".
Market Committee Chairman, Keith Mack agrees, "Markets were once the life blood of town centres, but over the past decade these have all been pretty much in decline. I believe that our market has a great potential for the future and with some simple improvements and support to existing and new traders, Coalville Market can once again provide the general public an excellent shopping destination and range of goods to compliment the town centre offer. The Sunday boot market offers a different dimension to the Markets offer and now the entrance charge has been removed we hope that interest will again pick-up."
More improvements are planned for the Market over the next 12-months, so keep your eyes peeled for more information.
Town Centre Manager, Lee Paddock added. "The market is an asset to Coalville town centre and if we wish to encourage local residents and visitors to our town centre we must provide them with a good retail offer. The Market is a key part of that town centre retail offer for Coalville."
